TRAMA

Irlanda, 1952. Philomena
Lee, ancora adolescente, resta incinta. Cacciata dalla famiglia, viene mandata al convento di Roscrea. Per ripagare le
religiose delle cure che le prestano prima e durante il parto, Philomena lavora nella lavanderia del convento e può
vedere suo figlio Anthony un'ora sola al giorno. A tre anni Anthony le viene strappato e viene dato in adozione ad una
coppia di americani. Per anni Philomena cercherà di ritrovarlo. Cinquant'anni dopo incontra Martin Sixmith, un
disincantato giornalista, e gli racconta la sua storia. Martin la convince allora ad accompagnarlo negli Stati Uniti per
andare alla ricerca di Anthony.
